The Warren Township Committee along with the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and the Warren Township Police Department have been working around the clock with JCP&L and PSE&G to restore power to the Township. Unfortunately, the majority of our residents and businesses remain without power.
As of 2:00 p.m. today, PSE&G reports that the outages among Warren customers, which had been reported as approximately 880, has now been reduced to 10. JCP&L, as of 11:00 a.m., reported outages of 2,979, a reduction from 3,791.
Police Chief William Keane reported JCP&L crews are working throughout the Township to restore power and open roads for residents with assistance from the Warren Township Police Department.
Warren Township suffered serious damage as a result of this storm and the crews are making progress in restoring power and clearing debris from the roadways, but it will take time. Chief Keane has assigned a Warren officer to assist JCP&L supervisors in identifying outages, road closures and coordinating traffic safety during restorations.
JCP&L is currently conducting repairs at the intersections of Reinman Road and Saw Mill Road, Round Top Road and Woods Road, and Mt. Bethel Road and Mount Horeb Road. Residents should be aware that in order to safely preform repairs, power may be shut down for a temporary period in order to allow crews to make repairs.
Mt. Horeb Road to Liberty Corner Road and Mountainview Road are now open to thru traffic.
Power has been temporarily re-routed by JCP&L to provide electric service in the Town Center, including the Municipal Complex and Police Headquarters. The Police Department is taking the necessary and appropriate action to ensure that Public Safety Communications remain in operation as a result of the power outage.
Mayor Marion has continued to be in contact with our JCP&L representatives.
The Somerset County Office of Emergency Management and Somerset County Department of Public Works are assisting in expediting the response by JCP&L, as well as clearing County roads to provide access to JCP&L crews.
The Warren Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has activated an Emergency Operations Center to answer calls and resolve storm related issues. Warren Township OEM along with the Warren Township Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) operated a charging/cooling center at the Warren Rescue Squad building today, and will be opening a charging/cooling center tomorrow in the Susie Boyce Meeting Room (Police Court Building) between 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Township officials are in contact with corporate centers to identify temporary space for a charging station in the event it becomes necessary to relocate from the Municipal Complex.
Don’t hesitate to call the Police for emergency needs, but contact JCP&L and PSE&G for power restoration updates.
The Township Committee understands your frustration and will continue to fight tirelessly on your behalf until power has been restored to all of our residents and our roads reopened.
