[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Isaias

tracking isasis

Tropical Storm Isaias has severely impacted Warren Township.  Over 4,500 residents are without power, numerous traffic signals are not operating, and there are several roads closed. The Warren Public Works Department has opened roads that were not affected by downed power lines.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has taken the following actions:

  • A Charging/Cooling station was opened at the Susie Boyce Meeting Room (Police Courtroom) at the Municipal Complex and is staffed by CERT volunteers, but has been temporarily closed due to power issues and relocated to the Library.
  • OEM staff volunteers have contacted the vulnerable population who are registered with the OEM department to provide assistance and determine their welfare.
  • Jane Asch, OEM Coordinator, is working with Somerset County OEM to facilitate road openings and resolve power outages.

Mayor Mick Marion has been in contact with JCP&L representatives to ensure that power is restored in a timely manner.

PSEG crews were working in Warren this morning and traffic lights within their service area have been returned to operation.

For those residents on well water and whose wells may not be operating, there is a hand-pump spigot located at the Municipal Complex near the Snack Shack, which can be utilized as needed to fill jugs of water.

Residents with power outages are urged to report it directly to their power company, as that will assist the power company in their response.

The Warren Township Police Department is ensuring the safety of the public while traffic signals are not in operation, as well as coordinating with OEM to assist in providing information.

The Township Committee is aware that being without power is an extreme hardship to our residents, but the return of power is the responsibility of the utility companies.  However, the Township will advocate for the return of power at the earliest possible time.

Please be safe as Warren Township recovers from Tropical Storm Isaias.
