Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is an all-hazard, all-risk training program designed to teach you how to protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and community during a disaster situation. CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people in the communities they serve.
Somerset County Freeholder Sara Sooy urges residents to enroll in a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course. Learn how to protect yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your community during a disaster.
The CERT program educates and trains residents about preparedness and response skills for disasters that may affect the area. Participants will learn about fire safety, search, and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
The course will discuss the different types of emergencies that can occur in our area and teach residents how to respond appropriately. With the severe fluctuations in weather and other disasters that have occurred recently across the U.S., it’s vital that residents stay informed and prepared.
The course is free to anyone 18 years of age and above who resides in Somerset County. Students must complete all modules in order to receive a certificate. Somerset County offers two free CERT training programs in the spring and fall. The application form and Hold Harmless Agreement (PDF) can be found at the Somerset County website.
