Due Dates
Warren Township is a calendar year town so bills are mailed annually in July. Bills will have the current 3rd and 4th quarters as well as the following year’s 1st and 2nd quarters. Property taxes are due February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1. There is a 10 day Grace Period for each quarter.
Added Assessments
Added assessments bills are sent in October and due in November for new homes or improvements. They will carry over to the following year’s 1st and 2nd quarters and should be combined with your original bill.
Grace Period
Payments must be received in the office on or before the 10th. When the 10th falls on a weekend or legal holiday, you will have until the next business day to pay. After the 10th, interest is charged back to the 1st. The state of New Jersey does not allow the tax collector to acknowledge postmarks. The grace period may be extended by resolution in certain circumstances.
Lost Bills
If you misplace your bill or did not receive the bill, please call the office and we can send a duplicate copy or a printout. As per the New Jersey state statute, failure to receive a tax bill does not affect the due date or the date that interest begins to accrue. It is the responsibility of each taxpayer to obtain the amount due on their property.
Interest
Interest is calculated at 8% on delinquencies up to $1,500 and at 18% on the amount over $1,500. Once the balance is over the 18% threshold, interest will be 18% until all balances are paid in full. There is a 6% year-end penalty on taxes and accrued interest over $10,000 that are delinquent as of December 31st.
